I loved to dance since I was very young and my passion for sharing this love for movement continues to grow. I have taught swing dance classes to adults of all ages and abilities and I am accredited by Dance Health Alliance to facilitate therapeutic music and dance programs to engage older adults physically, cognitively and socially.
Over the years, I have taken classes in different styles, from ballroom to Latin and to traditional Thai dancing and during my postgraduate studies in Health Science I became interested in the benefits of dance on health, and in particular on the prevention of Dementia. In early 2022 I launched In The Groove, a half day interactive workshop that teaches participants a simple 4-step process to design and deliver sessions that introduce dance as a meaningful and engaging intervention to improve mood, engagement and health outcomes for older clients.
I am a member of the International Association for Dance, Medicine & Science and Active Ageing Australia.
