I loved to dance since I was very young and my passion for sharing this love for movement continues to grow. I have taught dance classes to adults of all ages and abilities and I am accredited by Dance Health Alliance to facilitate therapeutic music and dance programs to engage older adults physically, cognitively and socially.
Over the years, I have taken classes in different styles, from ballroom to Latin and to traditional Thai dancing and during my postgraduate studies in Health Science I became interested in the benefits of dance on health, and in particular on the prevention of Dementia. In early 2022 I launched In The Groove, a half day interactive workshop that teaches participants a simple 4-step process to design and deliver sessions that introduce dance as a meaningful and engaging intervention to improve mood, engagement and health outcomes for older clients.
I am a member of the International Association for Dance, Medicine & Science and Active Ageing Australia.
Since 2019 I have been teaching swing dancing classes and workshops to all ages together with Melissa Burke, an amazing dancer and the owner of Swing That Thing, Adelaide's most fun dance school. Swing dancing is a broad term to describe a variety of partner dances which started in the US in the '20s and keep evolving to the present day.
See you on the dance floor!
